Hess - Spielzeug was founded in 1990 by Gunter Hess in the small town of Olbernhau, Ore Mountains, Germany. At first it was just Gunter working in his home, manually making toys by hand, and the family company has grown its operation to a global scale over the years. The production of each toy is still carried out in Germany, with all assembly work done by hand. All of their toys are made with native German trees, such as beech and maple, using an environmentally friendly process and materials.
