Steiff
Steiff creates stunning plush toys, believing children only deserve the very best. The founder, Margarete Steiff was born in Germany, and suffered an illness as an infant that left her legs paralysed and her right arm painful to use. Nothing would stop her from achieving her goals, and she worked her way through sewing school and began her working life. She made the first toy elephant as a pin cushion, but quickly realised how loved they were by children. The company was founded in 1880, and plenty of hard work and family support ensured its success. In 1902 Margarete’s nephew created the first bear toy with moveable arms and legs, which was a great addition to their growing designs. They produce all their toys with the promise of quality and their trademark Button in Ear. Yellow tags indicate the toy is part of the current range, while white tags with red writing mean limited edition, and white tags with black writing are attached to the limited edition replica designs. Even today, the company continues to create the highest quality soft toys that are loved by children, and passed down through the family.
